E-Learning SCPD Programme

Supply Chain Professional Development Programme - Diploma and Advanced Diploma
The Supply Chain Professional Development (SCPD) Programme is an innovative e-learning programme for logistics executives who wish to upgrade themselves or executives who wish to switch to a career in logistics. It is believed to be one of the first e-learning programmes in logistics and supply chain management to be offered to the industry in Singapore.

The SCPD Programme adopts a blended learning methodology which combines the convenience and efficiency of online learning with the face-to-face contact with module facilitators in classroom interaction sessions.

In today's fast-paced working world, working adults are faced with increasing pressure to balance their work and personal commitments. It has become a difficult juggling act to go for upgrading programmes, handle their daily work responsibilities and spend what little time that is left over with their families. In competitive markets, companies have to deliver more value with less. Losing productivity from workers who have to go away on external training is becoming more and more costly to the firms. Online learning provides an alternative for companies to achieve their desired learning outcomes at a relatively lower cost and minimise the loss of productivity from workers who have to attend external training programmes.

Programme Structure

The SCPD Programme is divided into two levels catering to working adults with different backgrounds. The first level comprises four basic modules. These modules are as follows:

SCPD01: Managing Resources
SCPD02: Managing the Transport and Logistics Environment
SCPD03: Warehousing and Stores Operations
SCPD04: Customer Service and Quality Management

The next level consists of four advanced modules and they are namely,

SCPD05: Supply Chain Management
SCPD06: IT and E-Commerce in Logistics
SCPD07: Service Operation Management
SCPD08: Business Logistics Management

Each module is divided into several topics and each topic is further divided into several chapters. The advanced modules cover the scope of the CPL examination and offers another option for candidates to prepare for the CPL exams.

Course Duration

Each module takes 1 month to complete. During this period, course participants can post their queries at the online forum for discussion with the module facilitator and the other course participants. The online forum provides an opportunity for the module facilitator as well as the course participants to interact with one another and share knowledge.

At the end of each module, course participants have to attend half to one full-day of classroom interaction session with the module facilitator. The classroom interaction session would be held at CILT Training Centre.

Method of Assessment

There are practice sessions interspersed at regular intervals in each module. These practice sessions are designed to trigger the course participants' memories and test their understanding of the concepts they have just learned.

There is an online quiz for each topic of a module. The online quiz consists of 10 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The online quiz tests the course participants' level of understanding of the topic and the passing mark for the online quiz is 70%. A single attempt at the quiz is given for every course participant. The online quiz provides timely feedback to the course participants in their preparation for the written examinations.

Course participants have to sit for a written paper for each module. The examination would be held after the classroom interaction session is conducted for each module. For CPL candidates, they need only sit for the CPL examination.

Awards and Benefits

Course participants who passed all the written examinations for the four basic modules would be awarded the Diploma in Supply Chain Management by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Singapore.

The Advanced Diploma in Supply Chain Management would be awarded by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Singapore to course participants who passed all the written examinations for the four advanced modules.

Candidates who pass the CPL examination would be awarded the CPL certificate.
